Stepping into Quensh is truly a feast for all the senses, with rich coffee aromas mixing with the wholesome smell of freshly baked bread. Quensh is not however your average coffee shop/ Deli, it is a totally vegetarian, all organic, completely new generation of eatery.
Quensh opened its doors to the residents of the quirky suburb of Observatory in the Western Cape in January 2009. It fast became a favourite spot for many locals and soon attracted people from further afield.
Open for breakfast, lunch and an early bird dinner, the restaurant serves a set menu that rotates every season. Dishes are inspired by the seasonal availability of ingredients based on the ethos of organic farming. Luckily Quensh has an expert chef who is not only highly trained but incredibly
Inventive as well. Delicious food is Jomar's passion, and he can turn everything from a simple turnip to a grand cheese into something incredible, along with assistant chefs Connie and Ashley.
A generous choice of beverages from teas to smoothies is served all day, with Quensh's special blend of Arabica coffee expertly prepared and served by their own barrister.
Decorated with subtle shades of green and grey, complimented by the dark wood tables and chairs of the restaurant, the deli section of Quensh quietly blends into the background. It stocks a wide selection of fresh produce and groceries. All your organic basics are kept on thee shelves from toilet paper to shampoo, baby food to pasta with a few interesting and luxurious items, such as chilli sauce and Himilayan salt, scattered in between.
On the fresh produce side you can expect all your seasonal fruit and veg, as well as tofu, goats cheese and fresh milk in the fridge. All produce has been sourced locally and each farm has been personally visited by owner and visionary Paulo Aliveria, who also runs the Ganic's organic food delivery service, now based at the shop.
Quensh is passionate about good food, looking after the planet and keeping things green and everything in the shop is driven by this ethos. Environmentally conscious people can really relax and enjoy the food and atmosphere safe in the knowledge that Quensh is not only taking care of their needs but our precious earth's to!
